Since leopard populations in Nepal, Sikkim and Kashmir are not geographically isolated from leopard populations in the Indian subcontinent, they were subsumed to P. fusca skins by longer hair and a more greyish colour. Panthera pardus millardi proposed by Reginald Innes Pocock in 1930 was a single leopard skin and skull from Kashmir. He mentioned Sikkim and Nepal as habitat. Leopardus perniger proposed by Brian Houghton Hodgson in 1863 were five leopard skins from Nepal, out of which three were black. Taxonomy įelis fusca was the scientific name proposed by Friedrich Albrecht Anton Meyer in 1794 who described a black leopard from Bengal that was on display at the Tower of London. 7,910 individuals were estimated in surveyed areas and a national total of 12,000–14,000 speculated. In 2014, a national census of leopards around tiger habitats was carried out in India except the northeast. The Indian leopard is one of the big cats occurring on the Indian subcontinent, along with the Asiatic lion, Bengal tiger, snow leopard and clouded leopard. The species Panthera pardus is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List because populations have declined following habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching for the illegal trade of skins and body parts, and persecution due to conflict situations. The Indian leopard ( Panthera pardus fusca) is a leopard subspecies widely distributed on the Indian subcontinent. Please avoid all-caps, especially in thread topics, as it is considered SHOUTING. As the conflict upholds we see that Creon is willing to avenge Antigone. Despite family bonds, he orders to bury Antigone alive. The disobedience of Antigone vexed Creon. In contrast to Antigone, Creon considers law as the highest value in the state. Despite the prohibition of Creon, she embodies her plan with the help of Polyneices’ widow. The controversy between the adherence to the state law and the moral norms maintains the conflict between Antigone and Creon in Sophocles’ play.Īntigone thinks that the moral norm is the highest value and decides to bury the body of her brother. The actions of Creon are based on the law of Thebes which states that the body of a traitor must be given to the tearing of animals. Creon, the king of Thebes at that time, prohibited burying Polyneices because he was a traitor. Polyneices, the brother of Antigone betrayed Thebes and he was killed in the fight with his brother. The conflict between Antigone and Creon is a background of Sophocles’ play. Her strong moral beliefs and brave nature became the primary reasons for her disobedience to Creon, the heir and consequently the king of Thebes. Antigone is the daughter of Oedipus, the king of Thebes. Special attention is paid to the characters of Antigone and Creon. The play describes the events which underlie one of the most famous myths of Ancient Greece. The plot of the majority of ancient plays is based on mythology. If she does Varia’s bidding, Zera will be made whole again-and is any love worth more than that? After the cliffhanger at the end of the last installment, Wolf resumes her story with aplomb in a continuation that’s both faithful to the first novel yet also a clear progression. Despite her duplicity, Lucien still has feelings for her. Yet if she does, what further pain may befall Lucien? Zera resolves to keep the prince safe, so no matter the cost to herself, she holds him at a distance. To find the Bone Tree, Zera-on Varia’s behalf-must find out its location from a half-crazed valkerax. Varia seeks the Bone Tree, a peripatetic talisman through which she will command an army of valkerax (gargantuan wyrms). Instead, she finds herself beholden to a new mistress-Lucien’s sister, Princess Varia, who’s returned from the dead and is determined to enforce a peace between humans and witches. Now that she’s failed in her mission, Zera is expecting death when her witch severs the connection between them. Her task was to take Prince Lucien of Cavanos’ heart, but instead, she fell in love with him saving him, yes, but only after deceiving and betraying him. She’s “Heartless”-an unkillable human puppet in thrall to a witch. Nineteen-year-old Zera has revealed her true form. In this second book of Wolf’s ( Bring Me Their Hearts, 2018, etc.) fantasy/romance series, a spirited, undead teen suffers the consequences of earlier perfidy. In this world, Hematoi are descendents of half-gods and considered pure-bloods. Half-Blood by Jennifer L Armentrout is an urban mythology set in North Carolina (I believe, don’t hate me if I’m wrong). And y’all I could kick myself for how long I waited to read it. This is one of those books that has been on my TBR forever! Thanks to #coyer book club, I finally got around to reading it last month. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem-staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1: Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. The Kaigenese are reminiscent of the Japanese and the Ranganese the Chinese. The world was heavily inspired by our Far Eastern cultures and its people. Throughout the entire novel, there was not one moment which did not matter, and a palpable tension permeated every turn of the page. From its convincing worldbuilding and awe-inspiring elemental magic system to the spectacular action scenes and intensely emotional moments, and most of all, its stellar character development. The Sword of Kaigen is the most well-balanced stand-alone fantasy book that I’ve had the pleasure of reading. Now, this extraordinary stand-alone fantasy novel, which is a rarity in itself, has earned itself a well-deserved spot among these masterpieces. Namely The Stormlight Archive, a few titles from Malazan Book of the Fallen, and Heir of Novron, the final omnibus of The Riyria Revelations. Thus far, I have not gone down the road of awarding 6 stars to some of my favourites, but there are several that I could easily place in that category. It is a book that I will plead, beg and maybe even force everyone to read, so that they can experience the same awe and emotions as I did. It transcends beyond what a 5-star book usually means to me. The Sword of Kaigen is a stunning achievement of empathetic and masterful storytelling.Įvery once in a while, a book comes along that sinks its hooks and claws into your very soul.
